Yesterday I had my monthly day of recollection per the SOLT constitution.glory to God I was reading Pope Benedict’s JESUS OF NAZARETH – INFANCY NARRATIVES and in the section detailing the Angel’s GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST announcement at the birth of Jesus, he said: “God is glorious, he is indestructible truth, eternal beauty. This is the fundamental, comforting security of our faith. Yet this also contains an implicit imperative to us, corresponding to the first three commandments of the Decalogue: to ensure that God’s great glory is not sullied, or distorted in the world, that his greatness and his holy will are held in honour.”

This point is also the subject of today’s Mid Morning Reading from the Brievary:

Short Reading Daniel 6:27-28 ©
Our God is the living God, he endures for ever, his sovereignty will never be destroyed and his kingship never end. He saves, sets free, and works signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth.

Be still and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.
