The time of tomorrow’s chemo clinic in Cork has been changed from 8am to 11am. For somebody who isn’t a natural morning person, it’s much better to be leaving home at 9.30am rather than 6.30am!
Today we celebrate St Teresa of Avila (+1582), one of the great spiritual masters of the Church’s 2000 year history. In the Brievary we can see something of the profound friendship she had with Jesus: “If Christ Jesus dwells in a man as his friend and noble leader, that man can endure all things, for Christ helps and strengthens us and never abandons us. He is a true friend. Blessed is the one who truly loves him and always keeps him near.”
St Teresa teaches that this intimacy with God is open to all of us. Prayer is the single most important practice that opens this door to the presence of God.
