27th October

I began another 3 week cycle of chemotherapy today. Blood tests were fine so I got all the planned treatment. I hope to drive myself up to Cork for the next session on Friday and relieve Maureen of having to do the driving. I feel as well now as I did before the end of the remission.

A ‘Though for the Day’ came to me during Morning Prayer’s Intercessions: Lord Jesus, we prayservice that through our own troubles, we may learn to feel the sufferings of others; help us to show them your compassion.

It corresponds closely to the well know prayer of St Teresa of Avila ‘Christ has no Body’.

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
