Jesus saves us ultimately from eternal darkness by taking us into his Resurrection. But this salvation and its light makes a difference in this life too. It is like the slogan of Christian Aid: We believe in life before death. This vitality of life comes from the power of belonging to the family of God. As we read in today’s gospel passage: But to all who did accept him he gave power to become children of God.
