People find no shortage of historical failures for which to criticise the Church – Crusades, Inquisition, and more recently the abuse crisis. Without trying to fully examine and account for all the dimensions of these historical failings, we can put our hands up and admit that bad stuff happened. But people are much slower to acknowledge the good stuff that happened – possibly the overwhelming proportion of all the ‘stuff’ generated by the Church over the last 2000 years. All of us have existed for far less than 2000 years and which of us has a 100% record?
Recently in the life of Sr Clare Crockett we see something of the good stuff done in the name of the Church and which is rarely acknowledged in the mass media.
