13th January – St Hilary of Poitier

Each Friday I try to centre myself in Jesus’ self-emptying and self-giving for the salvationjesus cross of the world. The reading for today’s Mid Morning Prayer shows us how to bring this spirit into in our family and community relationships.

Be united in your convictions and united in your love, with a common purpose and a common mind. There must be no competition among you, no conceit; but everybody is to be self-effacing. Always consider the other person to be better than yourself, so that nobody thinks of his own interests first but everybody thinks of other people’s interests instead. Phil 2:2-4
