The big event of today was Sr Trinity’s funeral. I was privileged to be the main celebrant. My homily was video taped and can be seen at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_66Ibr4ZHYU It was great to see so many old friends and the members of Sr’s family.
Sr Trinity was a keen missionary who never missed an opportunity to spread the gospel. One of the points I developed in my homily related to what a Christian is really about. (For example, is being a Christian just about being a NICE person?) After all, we cant give what we don’t have, so knowing what the heart of the gospel message is about is essential to its promotion. I gave this quote from Pope Benedict by way of an answer.
We have come to believe in God’s love: in these words the Christian can express the fundamental decision of his life. Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event [the Incarnation, God entering human history], a person [Jesus Christ], which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.
