Today I had the privilege of talking to a secondary school class about abortion, IVF and contraception. I started off with a slide presentation of foetal development from fertilisation to birth along with playing a recording of the foetal heart beat at 6 weeks. After that I went into the arguments that pro-choice people make and the hard cases: rape/incest, poverty, terminally ill babies, etc. I kept circling back to a fundamental point: if we wouldn’t consider killing ‘hard case’ babies after birth, then why kill them before birth?
We had a spot of humour when discussing the language used by pro-choice. If we’re in favour of terminating unwanted pregnancies, then why not consider legalising terminating unwanted teenagers!
Here is today’s reflection from WALK WITH ME.
